After an evening of much needed rest after the first round of the 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs were decided, you know I am talking about that exhilarating game 7 magic between the Carolina Hurricanes as they stunned the New Jersey Devils in the final moments of the game, tonight second round action commences with the second and third seed western conference teams meeting! I can only imagine the excitement in Bella's house, did you guys go wild??

The young, fast-skating Chicago Blackhawks talent will meet the Vancouver Canucks, lead by goalie Roberto Luongo who recorded a .962 save percentage against the St. Louis Blues in the last round, stopping an unheard of 126 of 131 shots.

The Canucks have all of Canada keeping their fingers crossed in the hopes that this is the year that the cup will be hoisted in hockey’s home country as Vancouver is the only remaining Canadian team remaining in the playoff hunt after the Canadiens and Flames went down in the first round.

While all the expert hockey pundits are predicting that the Red Wings will again be Stanley Cup champions, I would like to concentrate on the second round as each contest is played. The predictors are selling the game and the teams short because the first round illustrated how much great hockey is being played throughout the league. The Ducks are clicking in all the right ways as are the Capitols and then there are the Penguins and the Bruins, and of course, the Red Wings. Like the fat lady sings, it ain't over until the final buzzer sounds, so let's enjoy the incredible hockey that we all love so much!

Personally, I think the Blackhawks vs. Canucks series is going to be a battle of the goaltenders and that we'll see tons of fast-skating action. I can't wait and I know that our dear LeE is beside herself with anticipation for the puck to drop!!!!!

The best wishes to all your beloved teams and players! And again, thanks to our friends at VERSUS Network for broadcasting the game and always remembering our group of fans here on Sugar.

I hope to be back later to watch the game with you but for now, I have some dinner to make and some work to complete before I can enjoy tonight's game!

xoxo, Maisie
