Okay Sugar Hockey Lovers, I have been selected, along with other bloggers to chat tomorrow afternoon with NHL analyst Brian Englom. Once the interview has been taped, I will post the audio link onto our site.
Meanwhile, I've been thinking about some of the questions I would like to ask him--if I get the chance--but I would also love the opportunity to represent you and ask questions that you might have. So let me know what is on your mind!!!!
Last night there were several games around the league and let's just say that my favorite game of the evening was NOT the match-up between the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Calgary Flames. A lot of hard-hitting, frenetic action but in the final five minutes, the AVS took stupid penalties, stood around in their own end chasing the puck, failing to clear pucks which cost them two goals in what was otherwise a very tight game. You'd never know it from the final score 4-1.
The game that was fun to watch and my favorite of the evening was the Carolina Hurricanes vs. the Montreal Canadiens. The 'Canes came from behind to beat Montreal, 2-1, but the game was high energy with both teams willing to gamble and give their all on the ice. This game looked like a playoff game which seemed to add extra excitement on the ice.
Other low scoring, exciting games last night included the Minnestoa Wild vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, 2-1 (SO), Florida Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Lightening, 4-3 (SO), and Chicago Blackhawks vs. Phoenix Coyotes, 3-2 (SO). The lone blowout game was Edmonton Oilers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets, 7-2.

1Thanks Glam, great question and one of the ones I had been thinking about too. Wow, both of your teams are doing great so far this season. Great game last night for your Wild to hold off the Pengs (sorry Lady P & Lee).
Hope you are well and that life is good. Are you still wearing your cap? hahahaha So nice to reconnect and see some old friends. I have had such a slow start, really TOO much work and I spent most of my free time this summer involved in the construction of my new (second/vacation) home in Santa Fe, maintenance stuff on the Denver house, gardening, and a few trips. There just wasn't enough time in the day and by night, I was so beat I just came in, ate, feed the animals, took a shower and crashed. However, all the hard work is paying off.
Do you really think the Wild will trade Gaborik? Backstrom is looking awesome in net! And your defense has the best PK in the league!
2I did see last night's shootout, very exciting! Yes, I'm still sporting my Vs. cap but now that it's freezing cold it may hibernate for the winter.
I do think they'll end up moving Gaborik, I just hope they get what he's worth in return. The Wild have been playing pretty well without him so far. Backstrom has improved, especially in shootouts.
Good to have you back.
