Buenas noches hockey gals! I'm in Barcelona tonight, waiting for my niece to arrive from Dublin. I meant to post before leaving the states, but you know how crazy pre-travel can be and it was. But it is always worth whatever travel stress occurs.
We arrived late yesterday afternoon to glorious blue skies smiling upon the Mediterranean. The city is so incredibly beautiful and I am awestruck by the architectural genius of Gaudi.
Anyway, I must tell you: hockey is alive and well in Barca. Riding up to our room, there was a flyer noting that the Avalanche vs. Wild game would be the featured in the bar tonight!
Before I left, I must say that my favorite game of last week was the Vancouver victory over the Detroit Red Wings (sorry Wings gals). Many of us in the NoWest league have been battered and beaten by those pesky Wings that it felt like the Canucks were so pumped that they could beat the NHL goliath.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. I promise to post often and furious when I return (after 12/18). Besides, the serious season begins post-Christmas, eh? Sad to see that Joe Sakic will be out for the next six weeks with a herniated back disc (I hope it is not career-ending).
I wish you all well in the pre-Christmas frenzy. Meanwhile, I will be making my way through Southern Spain (Barcelona, Granada, Cordova, Seville, Toledo, Avila, Segovia, Madrid) and then on to a few days in Paris before returning stateside.
Adios amigas!!!

Too cool you see a hockey reference there!
In my heart I always root for the Canadian teams. Go Canucks!

Oooh, have a great time in Spain!
I haven't gotten to watch as much hockey as I'd like so I missed that Wings/Canucks game. Sounds like I didn't miss much.

2You must be staying at a very cool hotel to offer American hockey. Enjoy the sites of Spain & Paris and your visit with your niece. Happy travels!
3Oh! Have a nice time in Spain!
4Oh i am so so jealous!!!! YIPPEE TO US HOCKEY FANS!!!!!!! HAVE A HOOT AND DRINK LOADS OF WINE FOR ME!!!
5Sounds like an absolutely beautiful trip! Have a wonderful stay.
How lucky that they have the hockey game airing overseas! I haven't been able to catch many Pens games recently (d*mn cable provider
) however I'm trying to keep track on internet. So thankful Crosby
is getting back to his usual goal-scoring self. I just wish Marc-Andre was on the ice.
Hopefully
next weekend.
I'm curious how much better Eric Staal will be now that the team has a new
coach. Staal is definitely one to watch.
